Valentines is a peak delivery point for express logistics. Delivering flowers, gifts and meals. Ann Summers, the leading retailer of lingerie and sex toys, has awarded Evri a multi-million-pound delivery contract just ahead of Valentines Day. Evri has been selected as the sole partner to handle all of Ann Summers’ business-to-customer parcels including delivery pick-up, drop-off (PUDO) and returns. Evri was chosen to partner with the retailer due to a combination of its operational capacity, delivery options, sustainability initiatives and overall cost effectiveness. Last year, Evri delivered over 700 million parcels on behalf of many of the UK’s top retailers, serving over 12 million customers per week. Choosing Evri enables the retailer to continue to offer free delivery when customers spend over £40 – keeping the brand accessible during the cost-of-living crisis.
Evri has a network of more than 13,000 PUDO locations including ParcelShops and lockers. Delivery to ParcelShops, which are often located in Tesco Express stores, Post Office branches or independent convenience stores, and usually within a 10-minute walk, typically reduces carbon by 45% compared to a traditional home delivery – which helps the retailer on its journey to become more sustainable and helps satisfy the eco-minded shoppers who want to shop more sustainably. Delivery to ParcelShops can also be a more discreet way to receive a parcel, enabling customers to maintain the mystery when gift-giving this Christmas. Other sustainability initiatives include the use of electric delivery bikes, bio-methane fuelled vehicles and electric ParcelShop vans which have contributed towards Evri’s reduction in operational carbon emissions by 31% since last year. Evri had the lowest carbon per parcel output of any major delivery company when comparing 2021-22 data.
To increase convenience, customers can upgrade to next day or Sunday delivery with a one-hour or two-hour delivery window. In-flight diversions, branded customer communications and delivery photo for every parcel will typically come as standard. This announcement follows news in September 2023 that Ann Summers hit over £100m turnover and revealed plans to open more stores across the UK.
