History of Express Logistics book launched November 2025, over a hundred pages of A4 in hardback in colour with images from eighties courier bikes to latest zero emission vans. The vehicle gallery rich in EV - from Santis Global to CitySprint, Evri and DPD alongside Crown Red in Birmingham and many others that have shaped the colours of our sector.

From Fleet Street Flyers to FedEx. There is a gallery of two wheel students from the millennial Camelot Courier School in almost every brand of same day final mile that delivers a trip down memory lane of brands come, gone and still strong today.
Same day and next day. The History of Express Final Mile book follows a journey from couriers communication by phone box to e-retail. Looking at last mile, final mile and the reality of a client-driven supply chain delivering to door today.
Sixties foundations, seventies features communications, a historic photo from North London, PYE Westminster stock radios showcased by the late John Scott from GLH. Eighties boom years, nineties tightening the belt, Millennium respectability and e-retail growth. To modern-day robots, drones and the river deliveries.
There is a section on the Institute of Couriers' twenty-year journey, roundtable masterclass events, the education trailblazer groups and some historic pictures of the top teams who formed our modern sector from the Mansion House transport dinners to the Taylor Review discussion tables for worker status. Services to Industry individuals get a detailed review and capture the outlines of thirteen of our sector shapers. Technical detail and the heartbeat graph of peaks and product launches set the calendar tone of our numbers and how delivery fits into the cycle of the year.

Express Delivery Management
The chapters are based on the index structure of the Level 6 Express Delivery Manager (EDM) degree apprenticeship standard. Hons degree in Express Logistics Management.
Each chapter opens with a summary of the material covered in that chapter.
For each chapter, the learning knowledge, skill and behaviour unit criteria (KSB’s) of the standard are used as sub headers and indexed to the learning material.
A dedicated final chapter then reviews the behaviour units.
Exercise tasks are listed in the learning material of each chapter.
Case studies are placed toward the end of each chapter.
Each chapter ends with an assessment task based on learning outcomes (LOs), the LOs are also sub indexed into the chapter text as signposts for assessment during the learning.
Distinction criteria for the assessment are listed where appropriate in the assessment page of each chapter end.
Index from the apprenticeship standard criteria units currently remains in for mapping. Knowledge & Skills (K&S) and units for Behaviour are placed in a final chapter.
EDM Duties (D) index from the apprenticeship is in the chapter subheadings. (T) units are thread continuities to bridge the academic and apprenticeship learning units.
A set of appendices conclude the learning text covering mapping and index of the apprenticeship standard, listing first, the duty list from the sector Trailblazer group of Skills England.
The GVPPI numbers and other appropriate detail are included as toolbox material for the Express manager in daily work environment of achieving customer promise in delivery to the door.
