The countdown of days on the IOC web launched the ceremonial gowning of the Institute of Courier fellows at the House of Lords. The hand of fellowship exchanged. A magical mix of final mile match to the world of critical infrastructure. From best practice to latest education and apprenticeships of our next generation all in the one room on the one night.
National, regional, and local, network to SME alongside each other in the delivery of goods to door. A bumper year of senior fellows, Military, City of London, SME and Nationals, thirty new fellows together, over 1000 years of service to the Last Mile Express Sector. Careers started from being an apprentice, driver, telesales, or customer service. All dedicated and passionate about their career, to deliver the parcel.
The skill set of 2022 is broad - New fellows of 2022 bring a thousand years of final mile experience to the sector but they are also adept at other skills. Football coach, rugby coach, hiking up Kilimanjaro, running marathons, wing walking, football player, aerospace engineer, cyclist and community helper amongst the CV sets.
The honorary fellows - Four welcome two in top brass turn out. The two hon fellows, TFL Commissioner Andy Byford and DVSA boss Loveday Ryder will deliver the key notes. They will be introduced by a triple bill of IOC hon fellows, Traffic Commissioner Sarah Bell, former TFL boss Mike Brown, former head of surface transport for TFL Leon Daniels.
Making it four, IOC hon fellow, University of West London Vice Chancellor Peter John CBE is confirmed to talk Express Manager degree apprenticeships starting in May and Tracey Aust Principle of WTC has latest sign-up news on the brand new sortation apprenticeship and will welcome the first ever candidate from Tuffnells Slough Depot, Atique Khan.
Best kept secret in final mile, last mile, express logistics. Only the tenth ever Services to Industry fellow. It’s the best kept secret in the industry, it’s not every year, but 2022 delivers the tenth services to industry hood to Trevor Hoyle, Fedex. Trevor Hoyle was welcomed by former services winners, Jeffry Riterband, Justin Moore & Alistair Cochrane.
Senior military present was headed by Brigadier Andy Moffatt Royal Logistics Corps. 2021 National Courier Award winner, Sarah Robinson RLC reservist 158 RLC regiment is the recipient of hon membership of the IOC, for military logistics.
The gala who’s who of express sector began sparkling on the terrace of the house of Lords hosted by IOC president, Viscount Lord Falkland ad finished standing ovation to a sector of critical infrastructure.
A rainbow of brands in history of express fellows - The rainbow of colours as Fellows have worked with different companies through their career. Orange for FedEx or Hermes blue, Red for Dpd and Royal Mail, Green for Tuffnells, even those from the past, white of White Arrow or green & yellow of CityLink. The mixture of a rainbow in the thousand years of fellows for the IOC gowning of 2022.
