Stephanie Bartczak. Pushbike Courier CitySprint, London. Years in Industry 15
Stephanie has been a push-bike courier with City Sprint for nearly 15 years. She works one of our busiest contracts out of London Bridge which sees her travel across London, up to Notting Hill, down to Elephant and Castle and right across the City, 5 days a week.
As well as being a great courier who consistently delivers for our clients, Stephanie is extremely dedicated to the messenger community, an inspiration for other couriers and an asset to our company and the industry.
Founder of the London Courier Emergency Fund
In addition to the day job, Stephanie set-up and manages the London Courier Emergency Fund (LCEF) which provides support and financial help to injured couriers. We are very proud of the work Stephanie does for the LCEF and the time that she puts into it is a testament to her love for the job. Due to her commitment to the industry Stephanie won the Marcus Cook Award in 2011, which recognises the efforts of individual couriers around the world.
John Pope. Motorcycle Courier at GLH. Years in Industry 29
John has chalked up nearly thirty years in our industry, starting as a Despatch Rider in 1984, working for various companies until he joined GLH. He finds the flexible working hours compliment his responsibilities as a parent of two after he became a widower.
Since joining GLH he has proved to be a shining star within the Courier Department, assisting clients, fellow Couriers and Control whenever he can. To John, anything else would be illogical.
In his spare time John's a massive Star Trek fanatic .
He regularly attends conventions all over the Country. His prize possession being an original Star Trek uniform!
His most recent commendation was from David Lees of the Charing Cross Hospital,
After delivering a heart monitor at Warp speed with all the rigor of a Vulcan. David said
Please thank John for making a very important delivery so easy. I'm very impressed with the service and would strongly recommend John and GLH
Michael Barrett. Pushbike Courier Rush, London, Years in Industry 17
One of the pillars of our push bike circuit and considering that unfortunately he is Tottenham supporter with an Arsenal supporting controller. That is no mean feat.
In the time he has been at Rush, we have found Michael to be: ultra reliable, excellent with the customers and willing to go the extra yard on every occasion. Always polite and unflappable.
Michael Barrett has been despatching for nearly 20 years. After starting his career as a courier with Redchurch couriers back in 1996 he has spent time at Challenger, Lewis Day, Destinations and Excel amongst others.
An example of the standard of work Rush have come to expect from Michael.
On a snowy Friday last December (which I am sure you all remember). Trains, flights and buses were all cancelled but SP05 was out at 8am sharp worked through till 6pm, brushing the snow from his bike and clearing the icicles from his nose.
It was a truly impressive effort, one that lasts long in the memory and coupled with his excellent all year round performance well worthy of this nomination at the highest level.
