Tfl Freight and Fleet Project Manager, Helena Stolle writes
There are a number of major works, both TfL and third party, over the next three months which will have an impact on the road network. Please find details below.
Chelsea Embankment
Chelsea Embankment will be closed to westbound traffic from Chelsea Bridge Road to Beaufort Street from Sunday 26 November 2017 to Sunday 1 April 2018 (18 weeks). This is due to gas main replacement works. Please follow the westbound signed diversion route along Chelsea Bridge Road and Sloane Street to the A4 Brompton Road and avoid using Royal Hospital Road.
A1 Holloway Road
We plan to close the A1 Holloway Road, between Digswell Street and Highbury Corner roundabout, from 01:00 on Monday 18 December 2017 to 04:00 on Monday 8 January 2018. The road will be closed in both directions. Local access arrangements will be in place at all times. This length of closure is necessary to enable us to carry out the complex task of replacing the bridge which is part of the live railway network below ground.
Baker Street Two Way
Works to convert Baker Street and Gloucester Place to two-way traffic started on 24 July 2017 and are planned to continue until early 2019. Phase one is scheduled to be completed in December 2017.
Phase two is due to start on 8 January and last until late May 2018. During this period, one lane in each direction will be closed along Marylebone Road, between the junctions with Balcombe Street and Baker Street. During peak hours, motorists can expect delays of at least 20 minutes on the approaches to the works.
Brent Cross
Enabling works for the Brent Cross regeneration will begin in early 2018. There is likely to be disruption on the A406 and surrounding areas. For more information regarding the Brent Cross regeneration scheme, please click HERE.
Woolwich Ferry
In advance of the Woolwich ferry upgrade next year we are conducting a number of routine dives around the Woolwich piers. These investigations are vital to rebuild the Woolwich terminals for two new state-of-the-art boats extending the life of the crossing for decades.
For safety reasons we will be required to suspend the service for short intervals between 21 November and 10 December 2017. As these suspensions are planned in line with the tides the times may vary. Please plan ahead by checking Journey Planner at www.tfl.gov.uk or follow @TfLRiver on Twitter, follow signage and allow extra time for your journeys during this period.
A102 Blackwall Tunnel Southbound
We plan to close the tunnel, to carry out essential investigation works and test safety systems, between 23:59 – 05:00 on the following nights:
Tuesday 5 December - Thursday 7 December 2017
Tuesday 12 December - Thursday 14 December 2017
Tuesday 19 December - Thursday 21 December 2017
Tuesday 2 January - Thursday 4 January 2018
Tuesday 9 January - Thursday 11 January 2018
Tuesday 16 January - Thursday 18 January 2018
Blackwall Tunnel Northbound and Rotherhithe Tunnel will remain open except for any scheduled maintenance closures.
