-Matt Hancock - Secretary of State for Health and Social Care

to request consideration for home delivery, express couriers to be given a high priority vaccination status.

The New Year list of the IOC

New Year's Day 2021, IOC president, Viscount, Lord Falkland announced 2021 New Year’s structure list for the Institute of Couriers.

Four new group chairs. Services to Industry winner, Alistair Cochrane takes over chair of the judges of the National Courier Awards from Adrian Smith at Swift. Graham Thomas Ocado takes chair of Alternative Vehicles group from Sam Clarke. A new group is formed to focus on security with joint chairs, Adrian Sherratt DPD and Andy Magromallis Tuffnells.

Richard England remains chair of the owner operator group and Justin Moore continues in the role of education chair.

Brigadier Phil Prosser 101 Brigade RLC – The Iron Vipers - briefed the nation on accelerated vaccine deployment at the Downing Street Covid Press Conference on 7th January 2021.

Brigadier Phil Prosser, 101 Logistic Brigade, the Iron Vipers was amongst the IOC National Courier Award winners in 2020 for its coalition with Clipper to deliver PPE to the NHS.

This week he stood alongside Prime Minister Boris Johnson to talk about getting vaccine in people's arms, not vaccine left on shelves.

COVID-19 tests available at haulier information advice sites around England.

The government is taking further steps to help freight hauliers get tested before they travel to Kent or any port heading to France, in an effort to reduce disruption for drivers as they carry goods across the Channel. Light goods vehicle (LGV) and van drivers can also use the sites to get a COVID test.

IOC fellow, Grant Cochrane, senior vice president Fedex comments as Fedex land supplies of Moderna jab in the ultra-remote freezing far north of Canada's Northern Territories and Yukon.

Kent travel update, 28 December 2020

HGV traffic in Kent is moving slowly.

HGV drivers heading to the Port of Dover should get a COVID test at Manston Airport before travelling onto Dover. Eurotunnel traffic must continue to go via the M20, where testing is at Junction 8.
