2017 Hoods of the Institute of Couriers take top coverage in Warehouse & Logistics News - March 15th edition
At the Innside Hotel conference room, Manchester some 60 delegates attended the TfGM Freight Forum second annual meeting.
Jon Lamonte, Chief Executive of TfGM welcomed delegates with the news that the 2040 transport strategy for Manchester was now published, putting in place a framework to create sustainability for our lifetimes.

Helen Smith, Head of Freight for Transport for Greater Manchester spoke about environment & active travel and Peter Harris, UPS covered sustainable strategy whilst reducing congestion and emissions.
The afternoon saw Tim Ward speaking for Transport for London before workshop panels focused between making the switch of modes, road and rail, then a workshop on merging trends (Steve Gooding RAC – rise of the van). IoC Fellow Sam Clarke spoke on how to balance customer demand vs. min impact on urban realm.
Active in the LoCity van group are a new manufacturer of electric Light Commercial Vehicles. BD Auto will launch onto the U.K. van market at the Commercial Greenfleet Show, Feb 23rd at The Stoop, Twickenham with their eDucato 3.5t L3H2. The light van is built from their factory in Turkey.

The current information surrounding diesel engine pollutants and the effect on London’s air quality means that the requirement for electric commercial vehicles has never been greater. The new brand will be officially launched on Monday (6 February 2017) when the new website will go live, including dedicated mobile and tablet versions. This will be followed immediately by a national roll-out of the new branding which will include over 2,000 vehicles re-liveried, new uniforms for all members of staff, depot signage, packaging and stationery. The project will be completed by October 2017.

Heathrow for logistics excellence day, technology, teaching and table in a one stop shop all things logistics at Heathrow. LoCity Van group, alternative fuel vehicle showcase, IT Livery master launches electronic van simulator, express final mile degree apprenticeship round table. It was a full house of final mile, knowledge exchange and best practice showcase.
LoCity van group chaired by Carl Lomas Inst of Couriers were one of the key groups hosted at the event by West Thames College at their dedicated logistics learning centre in Feltham.
