The first of four tribunals begin Tuesday Nov 22. These throw the spotlight on employment in the express logistics sector which already operates on all three platforms of employment. PAYE, self-employment or a mixture of the two. Explosion in e-retail will form a far greater challenge in the business model, at the heart of e-retail challenge is the perception of free delivery. The sector is likely to double in the next five years as e-retail numbers explode.

Value of delivery is often perceived as free and here lies the greatest challenge whether the sector is PAYE or self-employed.

IOC chairman Carl Lomas was in Guildhall Yard for Logistics celebrations. Installation of the 500 year Master Carmen, Marsha Rae Ratcliffe. The new Master chose  Royal Mail to celebrate the 500th year at the Guildhall, London. The same 500 year party for the Royal mail in their 500th year. A traditional fee of five shillings was paid for the hire of the cart, old and new as a young Carmen apprentice then lined up for a photo. 1516 – 2016 for Five hundred years of logistics at the installation ceremony of the Carmen, Guildhall City of London. A key note by Mike Brown, the very last word from Ian Wainwright and strong interaction at the round tables for the mayor’s strategy on London for transport. TfL, DWP and DfE(BIS) at the IOC Heads of industry fellows round table event despite ultra congestion as Trafalgar Square closed for the Olympic celebration medal party. It was a full house to share best practice and put issues to the table. Opening with a transport style bacon butty lunch for a network opportunity of like-minded teams to focus on key express issues. IOC Chair Carl Lomas MBE opened with introductions, ‘City Sprint, Hermes, DPD,GLH, Diamond, Gnewt, DHL, GSG, Rush, Swift, UK Mail and more introduced themselves as Lomas urged  talk about key and imminent issues.
