DfT - Funding for on-street chargepoints doubled to help charge up electric vehicle revolution

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps,

We want to make electric vehicles the new norm, and ensuring drivers have convenient places to charge is key to that. By doubling funding again for chargepoints on streets where people live and opening up data we are helping drivers easily locate and use affordable, reliable chargepoints whether at home or on the road.

· funding for chargepoints on residential streets doubled again to ensure postcode plays no part in how easy it is to use an electric vehicle.

· real-time information could also be made available, helping cut waiting times by showing which chargepoints are currently being used.

· in future open data on public chargepoints would allow for information to be added to sat navs and travel apps

Money Saving Expert's customer satisfaction survey has voted DPD as its winner for the seventh year running.

Almost 9,500 people took part in the poll on Martin Lewis' site to find the best (and worst) parcel delivery firms.

Conducted just after the Christmas and January Sales peak, the poll asked people to rate the performance of all the major UK delivery firms, based on their own experiences with each company over the past year.

Another big year count for the last days of the Christmas jumpers - the APC network presented 19 staff from its Cannock depot with awards for their long service and dedication to the company.

The employees – who encompass a variety of roles – have a combined total of 240 years at the 25 year-old company, with awards being presented for 10, 15 or 20 years’ service.

DfT, Secretary of state for transport, Grant Shapps,

Whether you’re making deliveries, commuting to work or travelling on a family getaway, we want that journey to be as green and environmentally friendly as possible.

New funding will help encourage innovative technology using today’s waste to power tomorrow’s green transport revolution, helping us reach a cleaner and greener future.

Date for the next TfL LoCITY, clean air van group is Feb 11th, all van operators welcome.
