Ten years. A full decade since I had the privilege of becoming a Fellow of the Institute of Couriers, an honour that still means as much to me today as it did on day one.
The express delivery sector was where I earned my grounding in business, leadership, resilience and service. It shaped my standards. It shaped my career. It shaped me. To be recognised as a Fellow and to now serve as Chair of the Judging Panel for the annual National Courier Awards remains one of the proudest responsibilities of my professional life.
The Institute of Couriers is the leading light of our sector. A true backbone organisation supporting:
- Couriers
- Express delivery businesses
- Urgent and critical logistics
- Military delivery operations
- Retail, commerce and supply chain partners
Through government lobbying, academic qualifications, round‑table debates, legislation updates, sector-wide networking and the prestigious National Courier Awards, the Institute champions the true heartbeat of the industry from courier bikers and van drivers to customer service teams, office staff, leaders and members of our armed forces.
Two people deserve special recognition: Dr Tracey Worth and Carl Lomas MBE who are beacons of this sector and the driving force behind an institute that continues to elevate standards, celebrate excellence and protect the future of express delivery in the UK.
As I look ahead to the next decade, my message is simple: If you work in this sector or support it
Become part of the lifeblood behind retail, commerce, supply chain, community and national resilience. Stand with the organisation that stands for you. The Institute of Couriers isn’t just an institution. It’s a movement.
