Lens on driver - top duty is brand representation.

Returning from summer break in Aug, late summer heatwave, our rising stars in express, the Express Manager degree students at Univ West London from a range of brands including DB, Evri, FedEx, Viking and Whistl joined forces across their two year groups for an opening term team builder exercise. Set in the context of sortation, an exercise challenge of locations and positions that saw the whole group at table to scope locations and get a perfect delivery line at the interactive table of learning.

Dr Tracey Worth updates on the new, year one progress

Year one students began their year with an assessment of learning that reflected on dates in sector from the first e-retail, Sting CD order delivered to door, through COVID acceleration, to latest numbers in final mile, with 2024 Peak in sight.

The candidates begin their academic year on module three, ‘Route optimisation’, a lens on rural and urban variation, density of delivery number, route size and length optimization. Headline discussion was three S strategy, Speed, Security, Service. A line to profitability and customer promise to achieve first time every time KPI success is all on the weeks ahead learning plans.

Looking at front line, both year students were challenged to find the most important duty of a driver at door. Matching the recent trailblazer education meetings, they delivered 'duty one of a driver is ambassador to brand'.

The year ahead looks strong, as the degree apprentice candidates are working toward presentations on their route optimisation project - to be delivered before they break to return to their own brands for Peak.
