Security sub group is strong and meeting at ten virtually each month. ‘Roberies, thefts, fraud, all we want to do is deliver the parcels. Issues from a small number of incidents is very damaging to our whole sector. Fraud comes from many directions including cyber crime issues. Theft of mail code is turned on. With reporting growing, the theft of mail is rising, Essex has the highest level of reporting second is the Met. The deeper analysis is about loss from vehicle or at doorstep. One incident could be many parcels.

A spate of return and refund frauds

 

Andy Magromallis introduced City of London Police at the February heads of industry round table- Action fraud, hosted by City of London police, Chris explained, ‘Reporting crime correctly is essential, if a crime is incorrectly reported it is lost.’ Chris showcased a breadth of operation powerpoint slides on how to use the police platforms. ‘We have a bulk tool to place multiple crimes, we want you to report. I urge you to record information with us.’ Taking a look at a case study, ‘Last year we had a spate of refund and return frauds where labels had been tampered with. We need your data to track repeat address locations.’
