Over 8,000 MoneySavingExpert users took part in the poll took part in the poll on Martin Lewis' site to find the best (and worst) parcel delivery firms.

Conducted just after the Christmas peak, the poll asked people to rate the performance of all the major UK delivery firms, based on their own experiences with each company over the past year.

Elaine Kerr, DPD UK CEO commented, "This is a very positive result for us, and I'm delighted for the whole team. We've topped this poll more times than any other carrier and with more than 8,000 people voting it is always an important indicator for the industry, especially coming so close to the peak Christmas period. The sector has grown rapidly in recent years and, as a result, there has inevitably been greater pressure and scrutiny on all carriers. But our aim is to carry on investing in our infrastructure, our service and our green innovation to ensure we continue to lead the way."

Money Saving Expert rank firms from best to worst based on the percentage of 'great' and 'OK' votes they get (awarding two points per 'great' percentage point and one point per 'OK' percentage point).

DPD finished the overall winner with 55% of voters rating their service as 'great', with sister company DPD Local not far behind on 54%.

‘Great' scores for the other major carriers included 41% for Royal Mail, 33% for Yodel and 28% for Evri.
