Royal Mail today reveals the top ten areas in the UK where shoppers made the most online purchases over the course of Black Friday weekend
East London tops the list, followed by Kirkwall (Orkney, Scotland), Llandrindod Wells (Wales) and Milton Keynes.
The top ten is based on analysis of parcels accepted from retailers and businesses into the Royal Mail network between 20th November and 28th November.
Royal Mail has opened six dedicated parcel sort centres and recruited an additional 20,000 temporary staff to support its seasonal operation.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has today launched a consultation on proposals to expand the reach of Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) emission standards for HGVs to vehicles of this class operating anywhere in London by October 2020.
The consultation also seeks views on plans to expand the geographical area of the ULEZ itself for remaining classes of motorised vehicles - cars, light vans and motorcycles - by October 2021.
The Mayor has already announced that the Ultra Low Emission Zone will be introduced in central London over a year early in April 2019, replacing the T-Charge with an even tighter emission standard.

National employer group for Dept for Work and Pensions reported (Nov 16) Unemployment is down 59,000 on the quarter and is the lowest rate since 1975.
Employment rate is at a near record of 75.0% with 32 million people in work. Official figures show that unemployment has remained at 4.3%, the lowest rate since 1975.
The figures, released by the Office for National Statistics, also show that employment remains at a near record high, with 32 million people in work. Increases in full-time and permanent work are behind the figures. In the last year the number of people on zero hours contracts has fallen by 20,000.
