IoC chairman Carl Lomas was aboard the courier motorbike earlier this year to present the immediate past Lord Mayor Andrew Parmley with a delivery in Guildhall Yard for Cartmarking with strong attendance from London fellows of the IoC.
Andrew Parmley hands over to Charles Bowman. The state coach is over 250 years old, and the pikemen who guard it and escort the new Lord Mayor fulfil a role almost as old as the show itself.
The City of London has elected Charles Bowman as its 690th Lord Mayor - a former PwC partner.
Charles Bowman's priority will be the "business of trust", encouraging firms in the City to "connect with their community".
Charles Bowman, formerly a non-executive director of PwC's tax practice is the man who set up its audit and assurance practice looking after its FTSE 100 and "larger listed" clients.
His appointment comes amid uncertain times for the City: as the Square Mile awaits the outcome of Brexit negotiations, Charles Bowman will serve as its global ambassador, arguing for its case within government, as well as leading overseas delegations on behalf of the UK's financial and professional services industry.
