The international hub imported 28 million items and exported around 550,000 kilos of parcels last year and is a fundamental part of the national operation which delivers 730 million parcels a year and is strategically located close to Heathrow. The site, which opened in 2022, employs over 70 workers with 90% of employees living in the local area.
The hub management team took the MP on a tour of the site, followed by discussions about Evri’s overall business performance, which has seen double digit growth over the past few years. The firm has invested over £130 million into boost network capacity including a major expansion of hubs, depots and fleet and investment in low carbon vehicles.
It was explained to MP Seema Malhotra that to support SMEs and start-ups, Evri invests to act as an ‘ecommerce enabler’ and last year Evri saw an increase of around five million parcels from SMEs. The firm has focussed on developing innovative new products and services for our SME customers allowing them to use Evri to hold their stock and pick, pack and deliver it anywhere in the world.
