Sir Peter Hendy receives peerage in 2022 Political Honours

Sir Peter Hendy was awarded an hononary fellowship of the Institute of Couriers during his time as TfL Commissioner, in recognition for focus on freight traffic for the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Hot off the press, it was announced on Friday, (14 October 2022), that, as part of the 2022 Political Honours, Sir Peter would receive a life peerage.

Sir Peter has been a stalwart facilitator for all things freight in the final mile sector, most recently connecting Transport for West Midlands, TfWM to the IOC, this aided road closure and access knowledge direct from TfWM for the dissemination of Commonwealth Games information to many final mile couriers delivering around the Games areas - from nationals to regional and SME delivery.

Sir Peter was appointed CBE in the 2006 New Year Honours for his work in keeping public transport in London running during the 7th July 2005 Bombings. Following the successful operation of transport during the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games he was knighted for services to transport and the community in the 2013 New year Honours. Sir Peter Hendy was given an Award of Doctor of Science honoris causa by City University London in 2010, an honorary Doctor of Engineering by the University of Bath in 2014, an honorary Doctor of Laws by the University of Leeds in 2015 and an honorary Doctor of Letters by Queen Mary University London in 2018.
