St. Modwen Logistics, one of the UK’s leading logistics owners and developers, has welcomed third-party fulfilment company, Huboo, to St. Modwen Park Chippenham. The new, sustainable warehouse, which was officially opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony on 7th July, will allow the growing business to meet additional capacity requirements, with over 400 jobs being generated for the local area.
IOC fellow, Allan Blakeley, Chief Operating Officer at Huboo,
Our new warehouse at St. Modwen Park Chippenham has the capacity to cater for hundreds of eCommerce clients, giving us the potential to grow exponentially. We chose this as our ideal location because of its strong transport links to a host of major UK cities and ports. Our UK growth trajectory is a vital part of our strategic plans, and our new sustainable warehouse will create a wide range of new job opportunities and offer our employees a full range of wellbeing facilities.
The 106,000 sq ft warehouse comes as Huboo has seen a rapid increase in demand for its services following a surge in eCommerce. As a result, the business now employs almost 700 people and has shipped more than nine million products in the last 12 months alone.
Becoming Huboo’s largest facility to date – double the size of any of its existing warehouses in the UK – the space will enable the business to effectively implement its unique micro-hub model which enables online retailers of all sizes to access an end-to-end fulfilment operation within minutes. It also utilises software to drive a smarter, more efficient and human-centric warehouse.
Like all St. Modwen Logistics’ parks, St. Modwen Park Chippenham is built to the St. Modwen Swan Standard which puts the environment and employee wellbeing at its core. This includes BREEAM Excellent standard and EPC A rated buildings, as well as electric vehicle charging points which are provided for employee use. The wider park includes a trim trail around the full perimeter of the site, complete with fitness equipment, benches with solar-powered charging points. Biodiversity across the park has also been fully considered and enhanced.
Polly Troughton, Managing Director at St. Modwen Logistics, said:
Our aim is to provide our customers with the space and support they need to succeed, and, thanks to its location within the South-West’s established logistics triangle, Chippenham is ideally placed for Huboo to support its customers and the increased demand for e-commerce services. Our parks are built to the St. Modwen Swan Standard which offers Huboo a wide range of sustainability features, as standard. In addition, the wider park environment with its fitness trail, green spaces and outdoor seating areas will provide Huboo’s employees with a great place to work, whilst supporting biodiversity. We’re thrilled to be welcoming Huboo to St. Modwen Park Chippenham and providing the business with the space it needs to facilitate its growth and bring new jobs and investment into the area.
