TopSpeed welcomed Eddisbury MP Edward Timpson CBE to their Winsford Operations Hub.

TopSpeed's original launch would have been in lockdown.

A view on essential deliveries. Edward Timpson, MP for Eddisbury, said:

It was fascinating to meet the management team, view their facilities, and hear how they supported the UK Government agencies and NHS over the last 16 months. We need skilled and specialised firms like Topspeed playing their part in our local economy—one which they are clearly committed to and support.

Two years after moving into their new Operations Hub in Winsford, Topspeed welcomed Edward Timpson CBE MP to meet with its Senior Management Team and to tour the facilities.

Gillian Lockley, Managing Director at Topspeed, commented:

Originally we had planned to have an open day to launch our new Operations Hub in 2020. Instead, like everyone, our focus immediately turned to adapting and developing our service—offering to support our customers’ requirements throughout the pandemic. Now as we are heading towards the lifting of all Covid-19 restrictions, we find ourselves with a stronger business, and so the timely visit from our local MP Edward Timpson has enabled us to proudly demonstrate how our flexibility, robust processes, in-house facilities—and of course our ever-professional Operations Team, drivers, mechanics and warehouse staff—have made this possible.

As a specialist courier on the Crown Commercial Service Framework, Topspeed work for public sector organisations including Defra, HMRC, the Ministry of Justice, and the NHS. Private sector work includes clients from the manufacturing, engineering, nuclear and pharmaceutical industries. Topspeed continued to operate at full capacity during 2020 transporting dangerous, forensic, and sensitive goods—including the collection and delivery of samples and the distribution of medical supplies and PPE.

Steve Clegg, Founder and CEO of Topspeed, added:

Having the capacity in our 26,000 sq ft unit, we invested significantly over the last year in specialist equipment to support our developing ‘storage, pick and pack service. We have grown from a £1.5 million turnover business to an £8.2m business in just six years, and now employ over 140 people around the UK, with the majority of our Operations Hub colleagues living in the Winsford and Middlewich areas.
