Based at the club’s Leicester Road Sports Ground, the Hinckley Community Sporting Hub delivers a community programme designed to break down barriers using sports and associated activities to benefit the people of Hinckley and its surrounding area.
The initiative provides access to community sporting activities and supports school outreach programmes and local charity and wellbeing initiatives with the aim of improving physical and mental wellbeing, increasing readiness to move into volunteering, training and supported employment opportunities, and improving independence and sense of belonging.
The new three-year deal sees DPD extend its relationship with the club which began back in 2016.
Justin Pegg, CEO of DPD UK, commented, “I’m delighted to extend our relationship with Hinckley RFC. It is a fantastic club and one that we have been incredibly proud to support over the years. The club plays a huge part in the local community in lots of ways, but the Sporting Hub has a key role in connecting the club with the town and makes such a difference to those that use the facilities. Our support will help the team to run more programmes and hopefully make a difference to more peoples’ lives.”
Vicky Macqueen, Head of Commercial, Hinckley RFC, commented, "We are absolutely thrilled to be working in partnership with DPD headed up by new CEO Justin Pegg. The support they are giving to ensure we can continue and develop the programmes that we offer to our wider community is crucial to the success. “Our core values as a sporting hub at the centre of the community are extremely aligned with DPD’s, and the fact that they are supporting us in this way shows that in abundance. We look forward to the partnership going from strength to strength as we grow and deliver an even more positive impact for our Hinckley community."
DPD has become firmly established within the Hinckley area since the opening of its overnight sortation hub and the firm’s International Gateway in Sketchley in 2015, followed by a second giant hub near junction 1 of the M69, which became fully operational in 2021.
