Having worked in the sales industry in different sectors over the past twenty-nine years. I have had many experiences, some great, some good, bad, and indifferent as most do, but last month was most definitely my proudest moment! Despatch pro reached one million revenue!
I joined Despatch Pro in early October 2023 having been in the courier business selling logistic solutions for twelve years at various corporate and independent firms but this was a start up! No clients, no history, nothing! When I walked in all we had was a name, and a small office at The Joiners Shop Chatham but I was excited at being part of a new venture, helping to mould the business from scratch with our aim of disrupting the Kent same day courier market and becoming a force to be reckoned with in that area then scale it to UK wide! We quickly got to work with our owner and CEO Scott Murphy, a successful locally based entrepreneur, his brother Kieran Murphy on Operations and me, that was it! We had some vans but had to create rate cards, brochures and a bespoke booking system, I bought in an off the shelf CRM and courier booking platform. I started to send multiple LinkedIn posts (that hasn't changed!) to increase brand awareness and then got on the phone and pounded the Kent Business Parks to do what I do best, selling a same day delivery courier service to the local market.
It seemed to work! Our promise of a direct service UK wide, coupled with our varied fleet of vehicles and excellent customer service soon bought big spending and ad hoc clients to our door. I know that around 90% of them have continued to collaborate with us from inception and I thank you all so much for that, we would not be where we are without you!
Along the way we made some new hires as we added and lost personnel in Ops and Sales, adding the brilliant Andreea Nedelcu as Operations Manager (our clients love her, her levels of Customer Service are first class) engaged a HR lady Claire McIntosh FCIPD to guide us on legislation as we expanded, hit a few milestones in terms of revenue and grew fairly quickly. I remember a post on here saying we were close to hitting £100K, which doesn't seem that long ago. We have now processed over 6000 bookings, have reached over one hundred clients and the figure that made me so proud.....
£1MILLION IN REVENUE!!!!
This has been achieved from a standing start with no lead generation teams involved, just pure hard work and dedication from all of us who have been involved in this fast growing business Despatch Pro, I would like to thank our founder Scott Murphy for having the idea and providing the initial financial backing on this project, without him this would not have been possible!
I am really excited at where we can take this now as I embark on a new role within the business, we will add more services such as storage and fulfilment options soon as we look to progress further in 2026.
