Next generation managers look set to get their very own qualification for final mile, built by final mile employers. The qualification for the job role has been outlined at degree level for the pending levy to the department of education. This completes a stairway of opportunities for express final mile delivery in the new land of levy that ranges from front line driver to board level strategic manager and includes sortation in the hubs.

IT Master Connects up for driver simulation for System Training in the Heathrow logistics hotspot at West Thames College logistics excellence event.

Inst of Couriers chair, Carl Lomas was at the van simulator education launch with Colin Gordon, the information Technology livery Master Chris Histed, West Thames college principal Tracy Aust and West London University Matt Snowdon.  A logistics hot-spot for next generation final mile workforce, combined with TfL LoCity event and a college open day to showcase to students a stairway of trailblazer qualifications in Express from driver to degree apprenticeship in the new land of levy.

Delivery targets for the express delivery level two and pending degree apprentice level 6 for Express Manager. Lomas was on hand to showcase the logistics journey of a pineapple around the world to free home delivery at final mile with DfE David Sampson.

Carl Creswell, Deputy Director DfE opened a full house at the NEC to applause of employers from across the UK.

A big thank-you for helping improve apprenticeships. This is a big programme, over 200 trailblazer groups. During this transition of change I thank you for employment input. Many DfE managers are moving into the Institute for Apprenticeships (IFA). 40% of frameworks turned off as the new standards come in. We are working to all starts of standards by 2020.

DWP Logistics national team headed by Alex Farkas take a look at Express.

IOC chair Carl Lomas delivered the pineapple presentation to DWP regional managers to showcase exploding figures in Express, home delivery, final mile logistics. Retail shift from high street to home delivery was at the heart of the presentation using IMRG figures explaining trends of workforce move as shoppers changed to internet shop.  Lomas talked Trailblazer from level 2 to 6, a job for life in an emerging sector of logistics as shopping trend moves from high street to e-retail internet shopping and home delivery.

Levy news from Govt in full discussion at Coventry conference hosted by Lindsay McCurdy Oct 27

Lindsay McCurdy put on the levy conference at Coventry days after govt released the first papers on delivery, perfect timescales for a master class in how the HMRC April 2017 levy collections will be delivered by providers for employers, large and small, levy and none levy players all explained. Levy paying employers who spend their pot can then claim 90% subsidy for further training. A full house extravaganza of all things you need for levy, employers and providers getting ready for May 2017 delivery.. Whistl, Tarmac and Stobart amongst the big employer attendees for transport.

Standing room only at Heathrow as BIS talked trailblazers, there was hydrogen power in the car park for an IOC heads of Industry briefing that followed a proven track record of fifteen minute slots across a varied agenda. Glen Davies TfL,  LoCity was first keynote address, ‘ 59% of white vans are in private registration!’ watching the thunderstorm cell, Heathrow Emma Gilthorpe talked air, focused on freight, 1.5 million tonnes a year through Heathrow projected to 3 million tonnes by 2030. FORS BIS & Hydrogen followed, Inpost talked collect, Nicholas Dunhill Parcel Space had collaboration at heart, Alex Farkas DWP was on hand as national logistics, Andrew Hartley, System training de-mystified levy for employers. Sarah Bell University of Derby had level 6 degrees in preparation. It was logistics employers parked wall to wall, City sprint, TNT, UK Mail FedEx and more in a briefing focused express speed.
