Hosted by the City of London livery of the Carmen, with guest speaker Simon Thompson, CEO of the Royal Mail.

Former transport minister, IOC Vice President Sir John Hayes was at the table.

‘The future of our next generation managers.’ Education featured strong in the discussions with Vice Chancellor of University of West London, Peter John on hand to talk detail on the new Express manager apprenticeship, three years to an hons degree, blended learning on the job and all paid for by levy.

In a last moment final mile issue Simon Thompson, boss at the Royal mail had to step down from the keynote. Aldermanic Sherrif, Alison Gowman took the lectern to talk latest UK wide delivery numbers to the door, transport in pandemic, a sector of key workers that stepped up to deliver the challenge. ‘From 25 billion deliveries to the door in 2019 to an explosion of 53 billion deliveries of mail, parcel, food and meal in 2021, Wow! Express delivered for pandemic, keeping people safe at home.’

Looking at the success of our front line, Tracy Aust from West London had news on the new sortation apprenticeship and its success with the first candidates at Tuffnells in Slough. Tracy also spoke drivers as the first five hundred express delivery apprenticeships are all signed up.
