Hi-res images.

Institute of Couriers House of Lords New Fellows' Gowning 2017.

Sixty-five years since Queen Elizabeth II ascended to the throne, Heathrow boss John Holland-Kaye was awarded the honorary fellowship hood of the Institute of Couriers in a gala evening ceremony of recognition of the best-of-the-best in the courier, express and final mile sector.

As has become the tradition of the Institute, ten new Fellows were ceremonially gowned alongside the honorary fellow by IoC President Viscount, Lord Falkland.

National Courier Award winner, Army Reserve Sgt Dean Channell received an honorary associate membership and to round the evening a lifetime services hood was awarded to former National Courier Awards chair, Justin Moore, CitySprint making the dozen hoods of 2017.

Hon Fellows, Sir Peter Hendy and Vice Chancellor, Prof Liz Barnes gave keynote speeches; road, compliance and qualifications issues on the agenda before John Holland-Kaye talked freight at Heathrow airport.

Viscount Falkland President IoC.

The Institute has become a family of the courier sector; a truly expanding and evolving sector. I returned again to Guildhall last year to see the IoC motorcycle courier bike branded for trade in the City of London. Such events showcase the nature of fellows' interaction between City, ceremonial and operational delivery. It has been a great pleasure to see the Institute evolve and to do so in the most professional manner.

Carl Lomas MBE Chairman IoC,

This evening is about individuals; those who have stepped forward to be recognised as individual fellows of the institute. With common goal for best practice and excellence in developing and promoting the sector of final mile, express delivery and courier.

Logistics, courier and final mile express is in the life-blood of the City of London. It gives me opportunity to say a few words on the interaction of the IoD and IoC, It is always my pleasure to be with the Institute for the National courier Awards each October. A showcase of best practice making deliveries that drive the cities, not just London but the whole UK. The awards end with the military recognition of couriers acting in what are often austere circumstances, I ask reserves forces Major Andrew Gifford to review the last military awards, first for regular army, and then for the reserves who Sgt Dean Channell is here this evening. This is a rousing story of services to our country and aligned to the level of recognition of the fellows here this evening recognised for their work in the private sector driving UK economy.
