Employer-led Training for Logistics.

Bids into UKCES before end of March for a logistics-wide employer-led training and qualification framework.

The Logistics Guild, Skills for Logistics met at BIZ conference centre London SW1 on Friday Jan 18th as the snow came down around London. The Meeting  reviewed the March deadline for EOS, Employer bids for future funding of training and quals development. A vision to place funding in the hands of the employer, give employers full choice on how to fund and train their workforce.

A strong turnout, TNT, DHL amongst the big couriers, Kuehne & Nagel in the chair, Norbert, GIST and Stobbart. Focus on a driver passport to follow quals with any individual that could be recognised by every logistics employer. Bids for such work have to be into UKCES before end of March. Mick Jackson rallied for diary and dates to get logistics employers around the table for a joint bid, 'bring all the transport jigsaw pieces together for one picture of logistics' Everything from fork lift licences through DCPC, C+E truck, apprenticeships and foundation degrees. A stronger logistics force with a better trained workforce.

Congratulations to Peter Hendy who in the New Year Honours List was awarded the CBE. He is now Sir Peter Hendy CBE.

    During the afternoon a Skills for logistics freight group meeting is drafted in to combine the day and bring maximum added value to discussion and policy with top level networking.

July 17th.

    Cartmarking in Guildhall yard, the most ancient road tax ceremony in the world, today a key network event for transport and a mid year policy catch up for stakeholders in roads and use.
