UK Mail  targets 80pc automation at new hub

UK Mail plans to increase the level automation in its parcels business to some 80 per cent following the move to the new Ryton hub. Adrian Smith FIoC Managing Director of Swift Logistics Group and Cancer Research UK have announced a minimum two year partnership to provide logistics support services for the UK Charities Events Calendar (Including Race for Life, Pretty Muddy, Shine Night Walk and Relay for Life).

The intensive projects schedule which focuses around the period May to September each year, include provision of logistics service for the deployment of Event equipment around the entire UK on a scheduled and immediate basis. Services focus on strict stock integrity and time and process specific delivery to Area Event Managers and Event locations. Delivery of this equipment is key to the success of each event which are undertaken by over 600,000 UK fund raisers annually, generating over £50 million to fund the Charities research and ambition to beat cancer sooner.

 

Geoff Duke OBE dies, aged 92

Geoffrey Duke OBE (29.03.1923 - 01.05.2015) was motorcycling's first true superstar, a man who transcended the confines of a relatively niche sport to become a household name.He unveiled the IOC iconic courier motorbike in 2005 at the National Courier Awards.
