Viscount Falkland President IOC.

The Institute has become a family of the courier sector, a truly expanding and evolving sector. Joining our Vice Presidents Steve Norris and David Jamieson, we welcome a new Vice President for 2018, former minister John Hayes.

I returned again to Guildhall last year to see the IOC motorcycle courier bike branded for trade in the City of London. Such events showcase the nature of fellows interaction between City, ceremonial and operational delivery. It has been a great pleasure to see the Institute evolve and to do so in the most professional manner. This evening is about individuals, those who have stepped forward to be recognised as individual fellows of the institute. With common goal for best practice and excellence in developing and promoting the sector of final mile, express delivery and courier.

Carl Lomas MBE Chairman IOC,

The IOC is the only body focused on express today. Outside our world I endlessly get asked the question, what is this thing called Express ? Express is final mile, final metre delivery, driven by e-commerce, driven by client; it sits in a new term called the client chain. Let me quote 2018 comments from our industry...

Patrick Gallagher, CEO CitySprint  ‘Our responsibility to the environment has never been greater.’

Ian Wainright former TfL  ‘The client  must recognise delivery is not free of charge.

Nick Langdon boss of Royal Mail Parcels  ‘Express is exploding.

Mike Cooper, CEO Yodel  ‘This will be year of change.

Justin Opie, MD IMRG  ‘Over the past few years Black Friday has consistently demonstrated a remarkable capacity for shifting in terms of size and scale.

SEGRO CEO David Sleath  ‘Growth of the digital economy and e-commerce are likely to underpin occupier demand for some time to come.

Nick Beighton, CEO ASOS  ‘We achieved an exceptional performance in the UK with the launch of Try Before You Buy and ASOS Instant, our same day delivery proposition.
