Kevin was honoured at the National Courier Awards 2013 with the Services to Industry Citation.

Services to industry presented by IOC President Lord Falkland and existing life time winners, Jeffrey Ritterband and Marc Chauveau to Kevin Grey Point to Point. 41 years in the industry.

His company has won the National Courier Association best logistics five times, he is a key player in both the Despatch Association and the APC network, he started on the road ridding a Yamaha 80 with the Sammy Rose fleet and an orange Mercury top box.

Those were the days when Mercury orange was brighter than the sunrise , The Dally brothers ran AtoZ, couriers, everyone collected waiting time at Red Star and OnyerBike ruled the bicycle fleets. Kevins day job was at the stock exchange but from that first motorbike he graduated to a Sherpa van, then joined the office team at Point to Point with Surya Patel.

Communication was a pager, computer screens were green & TVs were all black and white. Kevin has been heart and soul in this industry from road to company owner, from courier to elected chairman of the NCA. He has seen technology change and customer demand move a pace with the professionalism demand in the modern day courier industry.

Today Kevin Grey is the president of the National Courier Association and is presented with the IOC services to Industry award.

Kevin left school when he was 15 years old, he started work at the stock exchange but soon decided he wanted a change of career after viewing an advert for motorcycle couriers he stated work at Mercury despatch in 1972 riding a Yamaha, registration number LUV 47K.

He stayed with Mercury until 1975, until he had the pleasure of meeting the great Sammy Rose. The he carried on riding his motorbike before graduating to driving a blue Sherpa van. Kevin was known to all at Point to Point as 'SWIFT HALF' and if anyone has seen his famous blue hard back A-Z they would know why.

At every page he had the grid reference that referred to the nearest pub and the name of the pub. After a few years he started as a controller with Point to Point, Surya, the managing director at the time soon noticed his potential as a sales man and his excellent management skills. Kevin began running the operation side of the business alongside Steve gaining new customers and building lasting relationships which some of which are still his customers today. The business went from strength to strength. After Surya's sad death, Kevin bought the company from Surya's wife, and continues to run it today.

Kevin says his greatest contribution to the industry has been his involvements with the National Courier Association . Kevin was Chairman for 3 years, and is now President of the association.

With many years within the industry Kevin has always been willing to share his knowledge, commitment and experience with all his staff members as well as anyone else within the industry making Kevin an ideal person to win this award.
